For this task, I will group a seventh grade school into suitable groups based on their proficiency levels. You will discover five English proficiency levels in Ms. Jensen’s course, Pre-Emergent, Zustande kommend, Basic, Intermediate, and Efficient. By looking with the score benefits of the Illinois English Language Learners Assessment (AZELLA), I am able to place the students in appropriate organizations by positioning higher level pupils with BEND students during in-class activities to help them understand and achieve their class room assignments. When viewing the class roster, I noticed that Ramon are at the Pre-Emergent and Emergent level during Reading, Publishing, Listening, and Speaking areas so I would place him in a group with students who are generally at the More advanced and Efficient Level and so he can pick up the The english language language faster and simpler. “Students can be paired or grouped while either ‘like-ability’ or ‘cross-ability’. Cross-ability is definitely where students of different proficiency levels interact and the advantage of cross-ability coordinating is that the higher-level students may help the lower-help students” (Roberts, 2007). There exists a total of fifteen learners, therefore I will create five small groups of three. The first group would include Ramon, Aryanna, and Carlos. The second group would be Gabriel, Hailey, and Jerry. The third group could include Corynn, Desiree, and Michael. The fourth group might include Jakob, Noah, and Suzanne whilst my previous group would consist of Hade, Petie, and Rebecca. My personal explanation intended for placing these kinds of students in these specific group is because every group would consist of a minimal level student (Emergent) using a Basic and Proficient level student. Once working during class actions, the higher level (Intermediate/Proficient) students will help the actual lower level (Emergent/Basic) students be familiar with assignment by giving additional support and being a role unit to these people across Browsing, Writing, Listening,  and Speaking areas. In order for this kind of classroom setting to work, I would personally need the support of the higher-level students to help with providing the additional help to the BEND students. The teacher nonetheless would unit the task first and offer a well guided practice after which walk around every group to view what support is needed. I think creating small groups of 3 would work a lot better than groups of five because BEND students would gain more knowledge and understanding if they have one or maybe more students helping then rather than three to four individuals. This is because learners working in smaller groups will be better able to target and help one another. When the group has too many students, they may have the tendency of getting sidetracked and potentially cause conflict inside the group.
