Survival Essay

Intense environments are places where “normal” life sees it hard or impossible to survive. To survive within an extreme environment you need intelligence and the will certainly to survive. In “The Tale of Keesh” by Jack London Keesh kills polar bears to survive because he gets little foodstuff from the tribe. He performs this by using his brains rather than brute power. In the “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel, Pi uses his brains to access food and water. In these two stories Pi and Keesh both equally use survival skills to outlive in their serious environments. In “The History of Keesh” by Plug London Keesh uses whale bone covered in beef to damage the polar bears that he tracks and then he would finish the polar carry with his spear. For example in paragraph 66 the author states “ The bear swallows the circular ball, the blubber melting, melted ; melted, molten melt, the carry gets unwell, and when the bear is extremely sick, so why, you destroy him using a spear. ” This displays how Keesh uses “head craft” instead of his power to eliminate the extremely bear. This relates to intense environments because Keesh uses his very own intelligence and survival abilities to gain meats and survive in his extreme environment. Inside the “Life of Pi” Professional indemnity uses his brain to find water and food without getting attacked by Richard Parker. Pi also uses his brains to open the of water this individual found when there wasn’t a can easily opener and so instead he used the tarpaulin hooks that wherever on the boat. One example is on paragraph 38 the writer states “I had a can—surely I had a can terme conseille? I seemed in the locker room. There was a fantastic quantity of point. I rummaged about. I used to be losing persistence. ” After that he thought of the idea of using the tarpaulin hooks. If he had not thought of doing this he'd have died of thirst because he would not have thought of a way to open the can. After Professional indemnity had become “drunk on water” he made the decision that having been hungry so he got a documentation of food to eat. Not merely did Pi survive due to his quick thinking yet he as well survived as the tiger “Richard Parker” gave him the will to survive. Such as on paragraph 49 mcdougal states “He pushes myself to go on living… It’s simple truth: with out Richard Parker, I wouldn’t be alive today to tell you my personal story. To summarize, intelligence and the will to outlive is important that you can survive within an extreme environment. In “The Story of Keesh” Keesh shows brains and resourcefulness by using mind craft to kill the polar bear instead of brute power. In “The Life of Pi” Professional indemnity shows cleverness by beginning the can easily of water with the tarpaulin hooks and he also shows the need to survive by simply saying that Rich Parker wiled him to live, that this individual forced Professional indemnity to live as well as not give up. So in an extreme environment intelligence as well as the will to outlive is important to your survival within an extreme environment.
