Cultural Attitudes Toward Prolonging Life Essay

A 25-year-old girl is dying of cancers. She has asked the “no extreme methods be used to prolong your life. ” The girl with now comatose and can be retained alive just with machines. How do you decide if her will should be highly regarded? This problem was given in the lecture and the majority of my group responded that they would not head to any serious measures to keep the 25-year-old woman surviving. The majority of the group reasons had been that it was her will and if that what she desired then that’s what should happen. Another reason my own group went along with the woman’s will is the fact that surgical procedures are very pricey. One more explanation my group decided to go combined with the woman’s can is because the girl with suffering from a health problem and it will be in her best interest not to have to go through anymore. Even though the majority of the group made the decision no to go to any extreme conditions to lengthen her life, I decided never to give up on your life. I know which it might sound selfish on my part but life is a very particular gift. My grandfather was obviously a victim of cancer and he, in spite of all of the suffering he experienced, wanted to stay alive intended for as long as this individual could. This individual wanted to remain a strong impact on how is usually family seen life. Throughout the radiation remedies and constants visits to doctors he never threw in the towel on his your life. I can bear in mind him expressing “Baby I’m sick but I’m here with you also it would make the discomfort seem a little more bearable. ” Through this I learned never to give up on life even when it appear to be there is no desire left.
