Subjective I chose Martha’s Vineyard since the subject of my School Context Paper. Martha’s Vineyard can be New England’s largest resort island and lies eight miles off the coast of Cape Cod in the Commonwealth of Ma. It is attainable by ferry or plane only. This island then is around one hundred square miles with 124. 6th miles of tidal shoreline. Martha’s Vineyard has a 365 days a year population of about twenty thousands of residents that grows to a single hundred 1, 000 in the summer with an additional 25 thousand tourists coming and going on the ferries daily. There are six towns that makeup the island; Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Walnut Bluffs, Western world Tisbury and Vineyard Destination (also called Tisbury). This island then is best known because of its miles of beautiful beaches, quaint villages and natural beauty. Around the vineyard there is only one local high school which offers a vocational program due to the students along with five public fundamental schools, one particular public hire school, several private pre- schools and an active residence schooling network. The school program also offers children with special demands from age groups three to twenty two. Job 2: School Context Conventional paper I chose Chilmark, a town located on Martha’s Vineyard to write my paper on. Martha’s Vineyard is found about seven miles from the coast of Cape Cod. It is a triangular shaped isle that is nine miles large and twenty three miles extended with a total land area of approximately a hundred square mls and 124. 6 a long way of tidal shoreline. These resources can be found through Central Administration: Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Supt. for Curriculum & Teaching, Director of Student Support Services, Helper to the Superintendent for Business Affairs, Financial Administrative Assistants, Management Secretary, Organization Secretaries, Treasurer, Grant Supervisor, Receptionist/Clerk and Special Education Secretary. Unique Services are available such as: Name 1 Coordinator, Early Childhood Coordinator/Consultant, Occupational Therapists, University Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Autism Specialist and ELL Movie director. Chapter 766 provides for the educational needs of children with particular needs. The school system provides for every child, regardless of probleme, between the age ranges of 3 and 22. Legislation requires parent involvement and a network of solutions including those of a school psychologist, occupational therapist, and psychiatric and medical services within the direction of the special education administrator. I chose Chilmark’s school program and the Up-island Regional District as my personal area of target. Tisbury enrolled three hundred and 25 students for grades pre k thru 8, Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School enrollment six hundred and sixty 9 students plus the Vineyard Community Charter College enrolled hundred and 80 one students for the 2011-2012 college year. Chilmark’s Public Elementary/Middle School Objective Statement states that,  “Chilmark Elementary School is committed to installing students with the tools they require for educational, personal and social achievement. West Tisbury’s School Mission Statement states that “The West Tisbury School staff strives to realise a solid academics foundation, to inspire a love of learning with regard to learning, to foster an awareness of standard human beliefs with a functioning knowledge of the rights and responsibilities connected with those values, and to enhance independent thinking through supportive and specially learning while keeping the unique values of our different, rural tropical isle community. Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s Objective Statement says that “Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School will provide a safe, energetic teaching and learning environment where learners strive for academics excellence and endeavor to obtain the higher level of intellectual and sociable skills necessary for success in a culturally various society. The Martha’s Vineyard Public Hire School is known as a K-12 general public school. Family members do not spend tuition. A software is filled away and then the student body is sucked from a lottery. In addition to meeting the state mandated curriculum frameworks, college students experience a rich variety of other educational arenas outside the academic class.
