Moon Orchid, the anti-thesis of many from the strong girl in the new, comes across since weak and silly.  In pursuing the children around and marveling at the miracles she encounters in this fresh country, Celestial satellite Orchid will stand up to her felonious spouse and strive some form of recognition from him.  His immediate dismissal ruins her impression of home and beats her contentment. For a simple moment, someone sees the strength of Moon Orchid in her easy approval of the truth.  “But this individual gives all of us everything anyway.  Also do I need to ask for?  If I discover him one on one, what is generally there to say, ” (Kingston, 126)?  She prevents the confrontation with her husband and solidifies her way of life.  Her strength comes from her avoidance, like her interior sense of self understood he had forsaken the family and her experience to avoid him allowed her a sense of normalcy, something removed from her in the end. The complete novel shows bits and pieces from the author’s own sense of strength.  She suits herself in each chapter through immediate commentary and inferred occurrence.  Someone sees the warrior side of Kingston in applicable over the Chinese stereotypes and expectations of her more traditional mother.  The reflections are often times informed from hearsay and inference, yet every single tale varieties a groundwork for the author herself.  In the final chapter, Kingston shares your own telling of her life. The stories of the five women, and many others throughout the story, depict a deep perception of girl fighting for his or her right to always be as they desire to get.  Whether an unwed mother to the love of her existence, the warrior queen in order to save all China and tiawan, the informed liberator of her very own children, the contended wife living in her chosen realm, or an accepted Chinese-American in an un-accepting universe – Kingston illustrates the best of women to get whatever they want – fighting for independence on the various fronts of societal rules.
