A career as a particular agent right after university graduation investigating arson, explosives, firearms alcohol and tobacco, may sound far-fetched, but a presentation to college students on Sept. 27 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, ATF for brief, was generally there to prove otherwise.
The CSU-Pueblo Career Middle was at first contacted back the springtime by the ATF on performing a presentation, but timing didn't workout until recently.
"We do a large amount of work in Pueblo. Everybody knows Pueblo is fighting some violent crime problems at this time therefore obtaining people interested who are from these areas and who understand the problems, we saw an excellent advantage," said Lisa Meiman, General public Info Officer and recruiter for the ATF Denver Field Division.
Recent university graduates are in high demand for ATF agent recruitment, she explained.
Seven college students with majors which range from criminology and homeland protection to advertising attended this event to understand about career possibilities with ATF.
"We do hire a whole lot of former police and students directly out of college. I could let you know from personal experience it generally does not change lives. People which have never been in police are phenomenal agents. Everything really comes down from what you label of it," said Particular Agent, Rennie Mora, who provides been an ATF agent for 12 years and is accredited in explosive technologies.
